EHS Audit Protocol – (Oil and Petroleum Refining) Alberta, Canada
In Canada, regulation of the petroleum industry is shared between the federal and provincial governments. This protocol focuses on those regulatory requirements applicable to the “downstream” petroleum sector (refining and petrochemical activities). Requirements applicable to “upstream” activities (exploration, drilling and production) are not within the scope of this protocol. Note that the general EHS requirements in the standard Alberta protocol also apply to petroleum activities, unless specified otherwise.
This audit protocol covers relevant federal and provincial EHS requirements. The regulatory date for the current release is April 2020.
